In 2005, Ilja Gort’s first book was published, Leven als Gort in Frankrijk, about his experiences amongst the winegrowers in the countryside of southern France. It became a bestseller.
He also published several novels set in France and a large number of books on wine, eight Slurp books and, together with Caroline d’Hollosy, a cookbook.
In 2016, Ilja Gort and Caroline d’Hollosy set up their own publishing house, Slurp Publishers. As of 1 January 2022, this has continued under the name Gort Publishers.
The work was previously published by Tirion
Publishers, then by A.W. Bruna Publishers, and subsequently by Lebowski
Publishers.
Novels
We publish a new novel by Ilja Gort almost every year. The first four books – De Geluksvogel, De Vrouwenslagerij, De Vulkaan and De Druivenfluisteraar – his so-called ‘French novels’.
This was followed by a series of books about the Abel, an eternal optimist, and his resolute wife Angela, who are buying a vineyard in the south of France. Godendrank was the first part, followed by Bed en breakfast. Then, with Vrije vogels The third volume, and the following year the fourth volume in the trilogy, were published: De Hemel.
All these sections can also be read perfectly well on their own.
The bestseller was published in 2024 De Flessentrekker; followed by Château Migraine (2025).
